M-Audio Shakes Up CALM Beijing 2004
Company expands international presence with participation in world’s 3rd largest entertainment industry tradeshow
M-Audio is proud to announce the success of our first-ever participation in CALM, China’s largest and most established AV communications and entertainment technology event, from May 30 to June 2, 2004. Sponsored by the Company’s exclusive distributor, Eastern Edison, the booth featured exciting new products and live demonstrations by M-Audio Lead Clinician Scott Wilkie.

With M-Audio’s brand new Keystation Pro 88 as the centerpiece of his presentations, Wilkie gave product overviews and demonstrated the power of Ableton Live and Propellerhead Reason used in conjunction with Sonic Reality Premium ReFills and ProSessions sound and loop libraries. The Password, a local three-man PC/DJ electronic music group, also performed daily using M-Audio’s Radium49 and FireWire 410, plus Reason, Live, and ArKaos VJ. Crowds packed the booth at every demonstration, eager to get their hands on this exciting new technology.

On the first night of the show, M-Audio presented an inaugural concert to dealers and end-users at the Crown Plaza Hotel. Wilkie played original material on the Keystation Pro 88 and an acoustic piano, with backing tracks from his PowerBook running Reason and Live. The Password gave a dynamic performance, followed by Jun Cao and Le Yang performing guitar/harmonica duets. The concert ended with an energetic improvised jam when they invited Wilkie to join them onstage.

“All and all, the show was a great success,” declares Chris Adams, M-Audio Director of International Sales. “It also sets the stage for the next big event: Shanghai’s Music China in October.”
