M-World Tour: India 2005

M-World Tour: India 2005
With stops in four different cities, M-Audio brought a new level of awareness to India’s fast-growing music community.
Chris Adams, M-Audio Director of International Sales, attended Broadcast India from February 7-12, making this the second time M-Audio has visited the country. Along with distributor Pro-Music (based in Chennai), Adams and M-Audio toured four of the region’s major cities with the goal of bringing awareness about M-Audio to the fast-growing music industry of India.

The four cities included Hyderabad, Calcutta, Bombay and Chennai. Each stop offered distinct and unique flavors in terms of organization, event style, attendance and interests. However, the talented individuals that attended these events all shared one desire—to learn about the latest information and technology M-Audio has to offer. Dealers NetCom Image in Hyderabad, Victor Informatics in Calcutta and SudeepAudio.com in Bombay organized the events in their respective cities.

On the second day in Bombay, Tauseef Akhtar, one of India’s most talented and recognized music film producers, became an M-Powered artist. As a result, he immediately requested a pair of BX8s to replace his Genelec monitors, citing that his previous monitors did not translate well onto the big screen.

Pro-Music and M-Audio joined forces to start monthly workshops headed by Tuhin Metha, a DJ and avid M-Audio user. While in Chennai, Tuhin exhibited a FireWire Audiophile, Evolution UC-33e and an MK-425C along with Ableton Live 4.0, showing new DJs how they can manage complete libraries of vinyl from a powerful laptop. Running six simultaneous tracks and setting up the UC-33e to control a three-band EQ proved to be a breeze for Tuhin, who was able to drop frequencies and tracks with tremendous ease.

After the new product presentation in Chennai, the tour closed with a grand event featuring many renowned artists, musicians and engineers participating in a jam session that incorporated both live and electronic elements. Even Chris Adams jammed along with Chennai’s top studio cats on the Keystation Pro 88.

After such a successful tour, M-Audio looks forward to many more visits to India, including Bombay’s PALM Expo later this year.
