M-Audio brings new products and dynamic performances to Seoul and Beijing
During a whirlwind 10-day tour, M-Audio’s Chris Adams, director of
international sales, and lead clinician Scott Wilkie brought M-Audio’s
latest technology to Seoul, Korea for the very first time, before
heading to Beijing, China for the world-famous CALM Expo.
On May 28, Wilkie hosted a master class and clinic at Korea’s famed Seoul Jazz Academy. Several weeks prior, Wilkie and bandmates Nathan Brown (bass) and Dave Anderson (drums) recorded a session into Pro Tools at Pasadena’s Mower Studio. By transferring the files into Ableton Live, Wilkie delivered a fiery live performance on M-Audio’s ProKeys 88—accompanied by his band members’ drum and bass tracks for a wide open, unfettered feel. Scott’s performance provided a compelling example of how anyone with Pro Tools M-Powered and an M-Audio interface like the FireWire 410 can record, edit and perform Pro Tools files anytime, anywhere.
Later that evening, Wilkie performed his original music for a crowd of over 200 at Seoul’s largest and most prestigious jazz club. The same Pro Tools backing tracks provided a sonically rich complement to the club’s beautiful Yamaha grand piano and Wilkie’s dynamic playing style—the crowd loved every minute of it.
After a successful stint in Seoul, the pair headed on to Beijing in preparation for China’s biggest music industry trade show, the CALM Expo. From May 31 to June 3, M-Audio and distributor Eastern Edison Technology showcased all the latest gear in a large, stylish booth. With five daily presentations by Wilkie and special guests Weidong Pan and Hui Sun, the space was continuously packed with visitors.
Guitarists Pan and Sun expertly presented the many facets of Black Box, while Wilkie again demonstrated the power of Pro Tools M-Powered and M-Audio hardware by virtually bringing his band with him in his PowerBook. With a superb audio system, these demonstrations quickly became nothing short of full-fledged concerts, with plenty of enthusiastic fans.
On the second evening of the show, Eastern Edison and M-Audio organized a dealer party featuring several endorsed artists from a variety of music genres. As part of the festivities, Eastern Edison awarded 17 Authorized Dealer credentials to key dealers in recognition of excellent sales and service.
To conclude the CALM Expo, Wilkie brought the house down with a 45-minute set of live music. After such a tremendously successful tour, M-Audio is looking forward to Shanghai in October!
