Carmen Rizzo's Monsta Sounds
Two-time Grammy nominee relies on the G-Force Minimonsta:Melohman
Carmen Rizzo is one of the leading composer/producers on the LA music scene. Over the years, he has worked with a huge number of artists and producers including Pete Townshend, Alanis Morissette and Coldplay, in addition to producing his own music and remixing everyone from Dido to BT. With so many high-profile projects, Rizzo can’t afford to waste time searching for the perfect synth sound, and that’s why he makes extensive use of the complete G-Force suite of software, especially Minimonsta:Melohman.

“The G-Force standard is so high I just keep collecting all of their synths and they never let me down,” says Rizzo. “Everything is laid out in simple terms so you don’t have to be a rocket scientist to get a good sound, and it is very simple to just start tweaking. The Minimonsta does a great job of blending the classic analog sound with today’s modern technologies without compromising the sound. It can be deep and quick at the same time. It doesn’t matter if I go to the great presets or dial something in, I’m always confident that I will get something close to what I want, and it has a very transparent sound.”

Rizzo feels so confident in the sound of Minimonsta:Melohman that he even challenged Pete Townshend to a software versus hardware showdown. “There was a time in his studio where I had Minimonsta on my laptop and I was getting a sound,” Rizzo continues. “Pete heard what I was trying to do and had the assistant get a classic ARP synth from the closet, and he showed me what he did on those classic Who records. Of course my jaw dropped as it was the real man doing the real thing! But at the end of the day we went with Minimonsta, with his help of course. He’s wonderful to work both musically and technically.”
