Company shows off Torq Conectiv DJ performance system to world-class DJs
Earlier this fall, The Recording Academy®’s Los Angeles Chapter, Awards Department, and Producers & Engineers Wing® presented “A Conversation with DJ Shadow” at the Hollywood Roosevelt Hotel. Sponsored by M-Audio, the event began with a panel discussion with Universal Records artist DJ Shadow and KCRW’s Jason Bentley on the topics of music, culture and musical influences. Speaking to a standing-room-only audience of over 200 guests, Shadow traced his creative steps from the sleepy college town of Davis, California to his celebrated new album, The Outsider.
Following the panel discussion, guests were escorted to the Tropicana Bar where they enjoyed downtempo beats by Marques Wyatt and a demonstration of the new M-Audio Torq Conectiv DJ performance system. Visitors to the M-Audio cabana included Steve “Silk” Hurley, The Crystal Method, Jason Halbert, Carmen Rizzo, Jason Bentley, Marques Wyatt, Joe Bermudez and many more. M-Audio’s Shawn Parker spent the evening answering questions and performing with Torq Conectiv and SynchroScience Control Vinyl.
“Teaming up with M-Audio really helped push this event over the top,” said Heather Goren, project coordinator for the LA Chapter of the Recording Academy, “After a great panel discussion with DJ Shadow, the Torq demo captivated the crowd. Everyone was buzzing about the ‘future of DJing,’ and seemed eager to learn more. It was a perfect fit to have Shadow and M-Audio at the same event.”
“The Torq demo by M-Audio was the perfect complement to the DJ Shadow event,” agreed Bentley. “The NARAS pool-side suite was rocking as curious DJs and electronic music producers ventured in to see what it was all about. Friendly M-Audio staffers were on hand to discuss Torq, and guests appreciated the opportunity to see the latest innovation in the DJ booth.”
