M-Audio is proud to co-sponsor the John Lennon Educational Tour Bus as it accompanies the Black Eyed Peas while on tour with N.E.R.D. from March 15 to April 15. In addition to selected dates with local students and educators, the Peas will use the Bus—equipped with M-Audio gear—to record and mix new tracks in preparation for their next CD on Universal Records.
The John Lennon Educational Tour Bus is a non-profit 501(c)(3) mobile recording and video production studio outfitted with the latest musical instruments, computers, recording equipment and video production gear. The Bus is dedicated to providing young people with opportunities to tour the studios and participate in songwriting and multimedia production workshops. On tour year-round, the Bus makes stops at schools, concerts, music festivals, community centers, and conferences. In addition to enjoying tours of the Bus, students learn how to write, produce and record original songs, participate in performing them, and create music videos using traditional musical instruments as well as current technological advances. Visitors create entire music video projects and leave with Maxell DVDs of their work.
The interior of the Bus is divided into two separate recording environments. The front studio offers the opportunity to participate in the creation of multi-media projects. Audio and video components are discussed, with students learning about and actually assisting in the recording, mixing and editing of original music/video projects. The back studio features a more traditional set-up for bands and the remote recording of concerts and special events. The studios feature a full range of instruments and equipment including guitars, basses, keyboards, drums, digital workstations, CD duplicators and video cameras.
Ever since they were a fledgling group in the environs of Los Angeles, The Black Eyed Peas (will.i.am, apl.de.ap, Taboo and newcomer Fergie) have flaunted a passionate, energetic hip-hop spirit. They have earned fans worldwide by providing inspiration through loose rhymes, a positive spirit, and funky vibe. “Elephunk,” the group's third album, garnered widespread acclaim from fans and critics alike. Black Eyed Peas Band members Printz Board (keys, bass, trumpet and music director), George Pajon, Jr. (lead guitar), Tim Izo Orindgreff (saxophone, flute, guitar and MPC) and Keith Harris (drums and percussion) are also M-Powered artists.
