Beneath the riverfront skyline of the city that brought you Ford, Chevrolet, MoTown Records, and Eminem—deep in Downtown Detroit’s Hart Plaza—approximately half a million ravers and electronic music lovers gathered for the largest annual electronic music festival in the U.S. The Detroit Electronic Music Festival featured three days of five large stages packed with intense music, sound, and visuals. M-Audio proudly sponsored The Electronic Revolutions Stage, which featured a variety of artists showcasing the latest innovations in music creation and performance technology.
The sprawling Detroit/Windsor Riverfront provided the backdrop for M-Audio’s own Paul “P-Phunk” Freire rocking Ableton Live on his G4 PowerBooks along with the M-Audio FireWire Audiophile and Evolution UC-33e controller. P-Phunk also debuted Alienware’s brand new Ozma Mobile DAW driving Propellerhead Reason and a joystick gaming controller. The crowds were intrigued by the way he mixed and improvised beats with such ease and precision—all on the fly and with just a click of the mouse.
The M-Audio stage also hosted Larvae, Di_Sect, and a variety of other bands and electronic artists using M-Audio gear in their live rigs—and the crowds loved every minute of it. Even when Mother Nature unleashed her fury on Sunday with torrential rainfall and wicked winds, loyal attendees enjoyed the music with umbrellas in hand, bringing the festival to a successful close.
