Text size [-] [+]

This guide will show you how to identify the 3 different generations of Oxygen Series keyboards.

Oxygen8 – 1st generation

The original Oxygen8 keyboard was the Midiman Oxygen8, and was later branded as the M-Audio Oxygen8.  The 1st generation Oxygen8 can be identified by the model name appearing on the top right, the data entry slider, and the “MIDI/Select” button below the LCD.  The Oxygen8 is a Series I MIDI Device and requires a driver to function on Windows and Mac computers.

Oxygen 8v2 - 2nd generation

The second generation Oxygen 8v2 can be identified by the transport buttons below the assignable knobs, its dedicated octave/transpose buttons, and the model name appears towards the left.  The Oxygen 8v2 is a Series II MIDI Device and is class-compliant on Windows XP, Vista, Win 7, and Mac OS X.

Oxygen 25 – 3rd generation

The Oxygen 25 is the first to carry this name, and replaces the Oxygen 8v2.  It features DirectLink and can be identified by it’s blue color, its assignable slider, and dedicated track buttons.  The Oxygen 25 is a Series II MIDI Device and is class-compliant on Windows XP, Vista, Win 7, and Mac OS X.

Oxygen 49/61 (silver) – 2nd generation.

The original Oxygen 49 and 61 were the first 49 & 61 key keyboards branded as Oxygen.  They replaced the Radium 49 & 61, and are still considered part of the second generation of Oxygen keyboards.  These keyboards are identified by their silver color (see below).  The Oxygen 49/61 keyboards are Series II MIDI Devices and are class-compliant on Windows XP, Vista, Win 7, and Mac OS X.
