Torq Activation Error: KCAV: Failed to get Activation code attributes

If when attempting to Activate Torq 2.0 on Windows* you receive an error message stating KCAV: Failed to get Activation code attributes, follow the steps below to delete Torq's licensing files and then adjust the NIC binding order  resolve this issue.

* Mac users, see below.

Delete Torq's Licensing Files:

Quit Torq and navigate to the AvidTorq (one word, not Avid\Torq) folder, and delete all files in the folder:

    Win 7/Vista: C:\ProgramData\AvidTorq (one word, not Avid\Torq)

Note: ProgramData is a hidden folder.  Go to the Windows Control Panel > Folder Options > View Tab and select Show hidden files and folders and then click OK.

    Windows XP: C:\DocumentsandSettings\allusers\Application Data\AvidTorq (one word, not Avid\Torq)

Note: Application Data is a hidden folder.  From the Windows Explorer, go to the Tools Menu > Folder Options > View Tab and select Show hidden files and folders; click Apply to folders, and then click OK.

Adjust the NIC binding order:

Next, changing the binding order of the NIC (Ethernet or Wireless) used to activate to the last in the list.  If you are manually activating and have all NIC's disabled, set the Ethernet (may be called Local Area Connection) to the bottom of the list.

Windows XP

Open Start Menu

Open Network Connections

In the Network Connections window, select "Advanced Settings" from the Advanced Menu.

On the Adapters and Bindings Tab, click to select and highlight the NIC that will be used during software activation.  If you will be using Wireless for Internet Activation, select this.  If you will be using wired Ethernet, or if you will be manually activating with no Internet connection, select your Ethernet controller (may appear as Local Area Connection).
Move it to the bottom of the list using the arrow buttons to the right of the device list.
If an entry for [Remote Access connections] is at the bottom of the list, click that to select and click the up arrow to move it to the top.

Click OK, restart the computer, and then activate Torq as described in this guide.

Windows Vista / Windows 7

Click the Start button and open the Windows Control Panel

With large/small icons view enabled, open "Network and Sharing"
CLick "Change Adapter Settings" on the left
Press "Alt" on your keyboard to show the file menu, click the Advanced Menu, and then click to select "Advanced Settings..."

On the Adapters and Bindings Tab, click to select and highlight the NIC that will be used during software activation.  If you will be using Wireless for Internet Activation, select this.  If you will be using wired Ethernet, or if you will be manually activating with no Internet connection, select your Ethernet controller (may appear as Local Area Connection).
Move it to the bottom of the list using the arrow buttons to the right of the device list.

Click OK, restart the computer, and then activate Torq as described in this guide.

If when attempting to Activate Torq 2.0 on Mac OS X you receive an error message stating KCAV: Failed to get Activation code attributes, follow the steps below to delete Torq's licensing files.

Quit Torq and navigate to the AvidTorq (one word, not Avid\Torq) folder, and delete all files in the folder:

    Mac: Macintosh HD > Library > Application Support > AvidTorq

Launch Torq and activate as described in this guide.
