Can I connect speakers to the Producer USB?
Text size [-] [+]

Q: Can I connect my speakers to the headphone jack on the Producer USB?

A: Yes, but you must disable direct input monitoring for the Producer USB before you connect your speakers.

Failure to do so could result in audio feedback, possibly damaging your speakers and/or hearing!

1. Before connecting your speakers, open the Producer USB Control Panel.

On Windows, this can be accessed from the Windows Control Panel, or by right-clicking the M-Audio icon in the system tray.

On Mac, this is accessed from Apple's System Preferences.

2. On the Levels Tab, move the "Monitor Mix" slider all the way down (-41dB).

This will disable direct input monitoring and prevent an audio feedback loop.

Connecting speakers to Producer USB should be used during playback only.   Most recording  applications feature software monitoring (sometimes called software play through), and when enabled, this could result in an audio feedback loop.

3. Connect your speakers to the 1/8" stereo headphone output jack on the Producer USB.
