Q: I am running Pro Tools SE on Mac OS X and when attempting to preview demo or song templates, they play through my Mac's built-in output and not through my M-Audio interface. Why is that?
A: Although Pro Tools SE sessions can only play and record through your M-Audio audio interface, the quick start menu where you can preview demos and song templates is a Flash based application and uses the Mac system default output and not the Pro Tools audio engine. You can set your M-Audio interface as the system default output from Apple's System Preferences > Sound > Output.
