I have noticed that there is now a trial mode selection on my Torq 2.0 software. What does this mean?

With the introduction of Torq 2.0, we have introduced a trial version of the software that will activate at no charge. Once the trial version is activated, it will expire in 30 consecutive days and cannot be reset.

Back to Questions

Can I activate Torq on more than 1 system at a time?

Torq does allow for more than 1 active license to have a backup in the event of a system failure.  Users are encouraged to deactivate Torq before uninstalling and activating on another system to prevent licensing issues.  M-Audio reserves the right to disable a license if it has reason to believe that the license agreement is violated.

Back to Questions

Is there a limit to the number of times Torq can be activated and deactivated?

No, there is no limit the number of times you can activate and deactivate your Torq 2.0 license. There is a limit to the number of systems that your license can be active on simultaneously; see above.

Back to Questions

Do I have to have internet access on my computer in order to use the new software licensing feature?

No, you do not need Internet access on the computer where Torq is installed. You can manually activate the software using by contacting M-Audio Support by phone. You will need your Torq 2.0 Serial Number, System ID, and the Machine ID that appears on the Manual Activation page of Torq’s licensing tool.

Back to Questions

Do I need to purchase an M-Audio Support Code in order to activate my system by phone?

No. Anyone with a valid copy of Torq 2.0 can activate his or her license over the telephone. Please see the contact instructions in the following answer.

Back to Questions

Who do I call if I’m having difficulty with the software but I don’t have an M-Audio Support Code?

For software licensing help – including missing serial numbers or system IDs, unsuccessful activations, deactivation issues (forgetting to deactivate, unsuccessful deactivations, etc.), questions regarding the upgrade or activation process, or any other question regarding software licensing – you do not need to purchase an M-Audio Support Code. M-Audio Support is available to you via the same phone numbers used to activate your software over the phone.

The link below has the phone numbers for contacting M-Audio support within and outside the US.

For any other issues regarding your upgrade, including software installation, failing hardware, malfunctioning features, or any other troubleshooting needs, you must have an M-Audio Support Code.

Back to Questions

What will happen to my license if my motherboard dies?

Torq 2.0 allows for multiple simultaneous activations. Once the limit is reached, you will not be able to activate your software until one copy is deactivated. If you were unable to deactivate your license before a motherboard failure, please contact M-Audio Support to manually deactivate the system. Once this is done, you can use the original system ID and Serial number – not activation code – to reactivate.

Back to Questions

What will happen to my license if I disable my Network Interface Controller (NIC)?

The Torq 2.0 software license activation is tied to a Machine ID generated by Torq, and this ID  used to be tied to your computer’s current Network Interface Controller (NIC) configuration.  In Torq 2.0 – 2.0.2, changes to the computer’s NIC configuration after activation could result in Torq no longer recognizing its activation.

On Windows systems, enabling or disabling your Ethernet or Wireless controllers after activating Torq could have caused Torq to no longer recognize its activation.  This behavior has been changed in Torq 2.0.3 and you can now freely enable or disable your Ethernet or Wireless controllers as you’d like without affecting Torq’s activation.

Back to Questions

What will happen to my license if my hard drive crashes, and I replace it?

Torq 2.0 allows for more than 1 simultaneous activation. Once this limit is reached, you will not be able to activate your software until one copy is deactivated. If you were unable to deactivate your license before a hard drive failure, you can use your original activation code, along with the system ID and serial number, to restore your system. If you have problems reactivating your Avid software following a hardware failure, please contact M-Audio Support.

Back to Questions

If I am experiencing problems with software activation, can I use the trial version?

Yes, but only if the trial version has not been activated. Once the trial version is activated, it will expire in 30 consecutive days and cannot be reset.
