Lower video card hardware acceleration to improve performance (Windows XP)

If you experience pops and clicks associated with graphics activity such as opening, closing, or minimizing windows, or if you hear a zipper noise when moving the mouse, lowering the hardware acceleration for your Video/Graphics Card may imrprove performance and correct these issues.
1. Right-click on an empty spot on your desktop and select Properties
2. On the Settings tab click Advanced:
3. On the Troubleshoot tab, adjust the slider to lower the Hardware acceleration; additionally, un-check the box labeled Enable write combining:
4. Click Apply and OK.
Test to see if your audio performance has improved. If not, repeat the steps above to again lower the Hardware acceleration further.
