How does Axiom DirectLink differ from Axiom Pro HyperControl?
Text size [-] [+]

This document will help you understand the differences between Axiom’s DirectLink mode and Axiom Pro’s HyperControl technology.

The latest M-Audio Axiom (2nd gen) MIDI controllers feature DirectLink mode. For supported DAW's this provides easy, instant, and automatic mapping of onboard controls—such  as faders, knobs, and transport buttons—to common functions like transport, mixer, track pan, and virtual instrument parameters. With the Axiom series, DirectLink gives you easy hands-on control over your mix without any user configuration.

The Axiom Pro MIDI controller series features HyperControl technology, which provides the same basic mixer control as DirectLink, but takes it to a whole new level. HyperControl gives you hands-on control over all virtual instruments and insert effect plug-in parameters. The constant two-way link with your host DAW means the keyboard's controls are always in sync with your software's active parameters. The intuitive graphic LCD constantly updates the current values, which ensures seamless editing and prevents parameter jumps—even when plug-ins are closed.

Another unique feature of Axiom Pro is support for ASCII keyboard shortcuts. You can assign any button on Axiom Pro to send ASCII messages accessing the available QWERTY keyboard shortcuts within your host DAW, including Copy, Paste, Duplicate, New Track—anything you want to assign.
