Use the F1-F12 keys to control software features
Text size [-] [+]

If you would like to use the F1-F12 keys on your Apple Mac laptop (iBook, PowerBook, MacBook, or MacBook Pro) to control features in software such as Torq or Pro Tools M-Powered, without having to hold the "Fn" (Function) key, go to Apple's System Preferences and click on the "Keyboard and Mouse" icon in the Hardware Section.

On the Keyboard tab, check the box "Use the F1-F12 keys to control software features"

When this option is selected, press the Fn key to use the F1-F12 keys to control hardware features.

As some of the Keyboard Shortcuts for Torq and Pro Tools are the same as some of the Mac OS X defaults, users may also need to select the Keyboard Shortcuts page and under Dashboard & Dock, disable “Dashboard” (F12). Then disable
“Exposé” under Exposé & Spaces.
