Keys triggering mutes or solo's on Redrum in Reason or Record software
Text size [-] [+]

Q: I am using my M-Audio/Evolution keyboard controller with Propellerhead Reason or Record software, and instead of playing the drum sounds, it's triggering the mutes or solos.

A:  Each drum sound in Redrum is triggered by a specific note number, starting at C1 (MIDI note number 36).  You can also use keys on your MIDI keyboard to mute or solo individual drum sounds in real time.  The keys C2 to E3 (white keys only) will mute individual drum channels starting with channel 1; and the keys C4 to E5 (white keys only) will solo individual drum channel, starting with channel 1.

If the keys you are playing are triggering the mutes, you need to play the keys 1 octave lower.  Users with 25-key keyboards may need to press the Octave Down button on the keyboard to play the notes starting at C1.  If the keys you are playing are triggering the mutes, you need to play the keys 3 octaves lower.  Users with 25-key keyboards will need to press the Octave Down button on the keyboard to play the notes starting at C1.
