Q: How can I reprogram the drum pads on my Axiom keyboard to change the MIDI note being sent in order to trigger the sounds I want?
A: Follow these steps to change the MIDI note transmitted by the Axiom's pads:
49- and 61-note versions:
- Press a pad to select it.
- Press the Data 1 button.
- The LCD display will show the currently assigned note for the pad.
- Enter the note number you want the pad to transmit using the numeric keypad.
If you do not know the specific note number, you can use the + and - buttons to scroll through the different note numbers. Press the selected pad to "audition" the note number. When the LCD stops flashing, the new note number is assigned. Repeat this process to reprogram additional pads. When finished, you should store these settings to the Axiom's memory so they are not lost when the keyboard is powered off. Press "Store", and use the numeric keypad to enter the number (1 - 20) you want to settings stored to.
25-note version:
- Press a pad to select it.
- Press the Advanced button.
- Press the Data 1 key.
- The LCD display will flash the currently assigned note for the pad.
- Enter the note number you want the pad to transmit using the numeric keypad.
- Press the Enter key to confirm.
