Q: When I launch Pro Tools, I receive an error message indating "Unable to locate Digidesign hardware. Make sure your hardware is connected and turned on". My M-Audio device is connected and turned on. Why won't Pro Tools launch?
A: If you are receiving an error message about being unable to recognize Digidesign hardware, you have installed Pro Tools LE. Pro Tools LE is only compatible with the Digidesign/Avid hardware it is bundled (e.g. Mbox, Digi 003) with, and it does not support M-Audio audio devices. Pro Tools M-Powered, or Pro Tools 9 is required for M-Audio audio interfaces. Please see www.avid.com/compatibility for more information on system requirements and compatibility for Pro Tools.
If you are receiving an error message indating "Unable to locate M-Audio hardware..." please see this article.
