Voice volume knob is adjusting the volume in my recording software
Text size [-] [+]

Q: Whenever I move the Voice Volume knob on my ProKeys Sono keyboard it adjusts the volume in my recording software; can I prevent this?

A: The Voice Volume knob defaults to transmitting MIDI CC 7 (Volume), which many programs respond to by default.  To prevent this simply assign the Voice Volume knob to an unused MIDI controller message (e.g. CC 9).

How to assign a MIDI controller message 9 (CC 9) to the Voice Volume knob

ProKeys Sono 61

  1. Press the Edit Mode button.
  2. Press the black key above A4 (A#4), representing "Knob Assign."
  3. Use the Numerical Data Entry key B5, representing "9"
  4. Press C6 for "ENTER"

ProKeys Sono 88

  1. Press the Edit Mode button.
  2. Press the black key above A5 (A#5), representing "Knob Assign."
  3. Press the Numerical Data Entry key B6, representing "9"
  4. Press C7 for "ENTER"

If you make an error while entering the numerical data value, you can press the CANCEL key (C2 for 61key, C3 for 88key) to exit Edit mode without changing the MIDI CC assigned to the Voice Volume knob.

Note: Optional MIDI parameters assigned to the Voice Volume knob are not stored when the keyboard is turned off.  This parameter will reset to its default value each time the keyboard is powered on.
