(Windows XP and 2000) ACPI mode vs. Standard PC mode - Which one should I use?
Text size [-] [+]

Q: Is it mandatory to deactivate ACPI mode and configure the computer for Standard PC operation?

A: No. For modern PCs, Standard PC mode should be understood more as a last resort troubleshooting option than a common setting. M-Audio recommends to run ACPI mode as pre-defined by Windows. This is especially the case when using modern chip sets like Intel's 8xxx, VIA's 266A or newer as well as nVidia's nForce chip set. In any case, the latests chip set- and onboard component drivers (e.g. USB) should always be installed for your mainboard.
