Audio interference with USB audio interface and Intel Mac mini
Text size [-] [+]

Q: I keep my M-Audio USB audio interface near my Intel-based Mac mini, and I’m getting strange noises/distortions in the audio signal.  What is causing this?

A: Under part 15 of FCC regulations, your M-Audio device “must accept any interference that may cause undesired operation".  In this case, your M-Audio device is accepting interference from the Bluetooth feature on your Mac mini.  To alleviate this problem, simply move your M-Audio device a short distance away from your Mac mini (moving it a few more inches away from your mini should be sufficient).  Another solution is to turn off your mini’s Bluetooth feature when using your M-Audio device.
