Assigning MIDI Machine Control (MMC) Transport Controls to Buttons - Keystation Pro 88
Text size [-] [+]

The transport functions of some hardware recording devices and DAW applications can be remotely operated via MMC (MIDI Machine Control) commands. MMC is a specialized transport control protocol and requires a somewhat different configuration method.

Note: Preset 1 on Keystation Pro 88 has the transport buttons configured to send MMC commands by default.

To configure a button on Keystation Pro 88 to send an MMC command:

  1. Press to select the button you want to control the MMC message.
  2. Press the CONTROL ASSIGN button on the Keystation Pro 88.
  3. Type in “149” using the numerical keypad. 149 is the number that corresponds to the MMC instruction, as per the chart in Appendix B of the Keystation Pro 88 Advanced User Guide.
  4. Press the CHANNEL ASSIGN button once.
  5. Type in “127” using the numerical keypad. This ensures that the message is set to all device ID numbers. For more information about this, please read “About SysEx Messages and Device ID” in the “Programming and Editing” section of the Keystation Pro 88 Advanced User Guide.
  6. Press the DATA LSB button twice.
  7. Enter a number from the following chart to select the MMC message you want:

After you have finished programming your device, see this guide for storing these settings to memory.
