Torq – Activation No Longer Recognized / Stuck in trial mode after activating
Text size [-] [+]

Background

Please read the information below for important information about Torq’s software licensing system and the changes to it implemented in Torq 2.0.3.

The Torq 2.0 software license activation is tied to a Machine ID generated by Torq, and this ID  used to be tied to your computer’s current Network Interface Controller (NIC) configuration.  In Torq 2.0 – 2.0.2, changes to the computer’s NIC configuration after activation could result in Torq no longer recognizing its activation.

On Windows systems, enabling or disabling your Ethernet or Wireless controllers after activating Torq could cause Torq to no longer recognize its activation.  This behavior has been changed in Torq 2.0.3 and you can now freely enable or disable your Ethernet or Wireless controllers as you’d like without affecting Torq’s activation

For more information about Torq's Software Licensing feature, see these Torq 2.0 Software Licensing FAQ's.

Resolution

If you are running Torq 2.0.1 and above and are stuck in trial mode after successfully activating, follow the steps below to fix this issue, and read the additional information at the end to prevent this from happening.

Quit Torq and navigate to the AvidTorq (one word, not Avid\Torq) folder, and delete all files in the folder:

Mac: Macintosh HD > Library > Application Support > AvidTorq
    Win 7/Vista: C:\ProgramData\AvidTorq
Note: ProgramData is a hidden folder.  Go to the Windows Control Panel > Folder Options > View Tab and select Show hidden files and folders and then click OK.
    Windows XP: C:\DocumentsandSettings\allusers\Application Data\AvidTorq
Note: Application Data is a hidden folder.  From the Windows Explorer, go to the Tools Menu > Folder Options > View Tab and select Show hidden files and folders; click Apply to folders, and then click OK.

Launch Torq and activate as described in this guide.

Torq 2.0 Software Licensing FAQ's

Q: I run Windows and I activated Torq with my Wi-Fi and/or Ethernet enabled, but would like to use Torq with these disabled.

A: Starting with Torq 2.0.3, enabling or disabling Netowrk devices such as your Ethernet or Wireless controllers will no longer cause Torq to lose its activation.  You can enable/disable your Network devices whenever you want.

Q: When attempting to activate Torq I receive an error message that I have reached the maximum number of allowed activations.  How can I activate Torq on my system?

A: Torq allows for 3 simultaneous activations.  If you have Torq active on 3 other systems, you must deactivate Torq on of the other systems before activating on this new system.  If you had to delete Torq’s licensing files for issues described above, this can result in multiple activations on the same system.  Please contact M-Audio Support for software licensing help.
