Text size [-] [+]

Q: My M-Audio USB Audio or MIDI device stops working or is no longer recognized.

A: Disable USB Selective Suspend.  The USB Selective Suspend feature allows the hub driver to suspend an individual USB port without affecting the operation of the other USB ports on the hub. This feature is often enabled in portable computers to help conserve battery power, however, it can cause problems with audio and MIDI devices.

Go to the Windows Control Panel > Power Options.

Users are recommended to select the High Performance power plan as this can improve performance with audio applications.

Click Change Plan Settings

Expand USB Settings and set USB Selective Suspend to Disabled:

To prevent performance issues with audio applciations, it is also recommended to make sure the Hard Drive is set to NEVER be turned off.

Click OK.
