Key Rig Virtual Instrument Software - Windows Operating System Compatibility
Text size [-] [+]

Q: Which Windows operating systems is the Key Rig virtual instrument software compatible with?

A: Key Rig is tested and supported with the following Windows operating systems:

Windows XP* SP2
Windows XP* SP3
Windows Vista 32-bit
Windows Vista 32-bit SP1
Windows Vista 32-bit SP2

* Home and Professional Edition only. Windows XP Media Center Edition is not supported.

All users on these operating systems should first install the Key Rig virtual instrument software from the included CD, then download and install the Key Rig Updater.  This update is required for Windows Vista compatibility.  After installing the update it is not necessary to authorize Key Rig.

If you plan on using Key Rig as a VST plug-in, you will need to copy the updated M-Audio Key Rig.dll file to your host DAW application's VST plug-ins folder.  The updated M-Audio Key Rig.dll installs to C:\Program Files\M-Audio\KeyRig.  Copy the "M-Audio Key Rig.dll" file; then paste this .dll file into your host DAW's VST plug-ins folder, e.g. C:\Program Files\Steinberg\VSTPlugins.

The KeyRig 25 and KeyRig 49 keyboard are plug and play on WIndows.  The optional drivers are availbale to download at www.m-audio.com/drivers.

Although the Key Rig virtual instrument software is not tested or supported on Windows Vista 64-bit and Windows 7, it can be used.  Click here for more information.
