Summer NAMM 2006: New Product Roundup
M-Audio unveils over 15 new products in Austin
The revolutionary Torq software is the core of the new SynchroScience line. Built to integrate perfectly with all SynchroScience hardware, Torq is the only software that fuses the components of a full-featured DJ application with a powerful suite of real-time remix, sampling and sound design tools. Torq is included free of charge with all SynchroScience hardware.

The first SynchroScience hardware product is Conectiv—the only USB bus-powered 4 x 4 audio interface designed expressly for live DJ performance. With two pairs of switchable RCA phono/line inputs, a ¼” mic input, two sets of stereo RCA outputs, easy USB connectivity and included Torq software, Conectiv transforms any Mac or PC into a powerful DJ rig.

Austin was the perfect locale to debut new solutions created specially for guitarists. The GuitarBox™ combines two award-winning products—the M-Audio Black Box™ and Pro Tools M-Powered™ software—along with 45 DigiRack™ and Bomb Factory™ plug-ins and an additional bundle of premium plug-ins ($1680 value). The GuitarBox Pro™ delivers everything found in M-Audio’s GuitarBox—plus an even more expansive premium plug-in suite ($3810 value).

To meet the needs of M-Powered musicians on the go, M-Audio is proud to release the IE line of professional reference earphones for both performance and critical listening applications. M-Audio professional reference earphones incorporate acclaimed Ultimate Ears technology—the same industry standard that many of today’s best-known artists trust for comfort, accuracy and reliability.
The IE-10 reference earphones provide pristine sound with 26dB of isolation—you’ll never use standard-issue earbuds again. If you crave more bass, the IE-20 XB dual-driver reference earphones deliver full frequency response with extended bass, extraordinary detail and 16dB of isolation. The flagship IE-30 dual-driver reference earphones give you full frequency response and 26dB isolation for extraordinary detail. All models feature pro-style ear loops, a detachable cable to extend product life, and the Universal Fit Kit to ensure optimal comfort and sound isolation.
M-Audio also unveiled the new Studiophile BX10s professional active subwoofer—ideal for any monitoring environment requiring accurate low-frequency response down to 20Hz (and the perfect complement to M-Audio’s BX5a’s and BX8a’s). The BX10s boasts unique features including a subwoofer defeat function that lets you judge how a mix will sound without a dedicated subwoofer—controllable via the included non-latching footswitch.
For users seeking to integrate digital mixers, AD/DA converters and/or ADATs with most popular DAW software, M-Audio’s new ProFire Lightbridge provides the perfect solution. The unit is capable of 32 channels of ADAT Lightpipe I/O, two channels of S/PDIF I/O and two-channel analog output for a total of 34 x 36 concurrent channels at 44.1 or 48kHz sample rates. (It also supports 16-channel Lightpipe operation at 88.2 and 96kHz sample rates via the S/MUX protocol.)
Summer NAMM also marked the first opportunity for many to get their hands on the newly available MidAir 25—the first-ever wireless 25-note MIDI keyboard controller. Perfect for eliminating wire clutter in the studio and experiencing greater freedom in live performance environments, the MidAir 25 features 25 velocity-sensitive keys, eight MIDI-assignable knobs, mod and pitch bend wheels, assignable sustain button, three-digit LED display and more.
M-Audio software partner Ableton was also on hand to announce that Live 6 is slated for a September release. Coming quickly on the heels of Live 5, this new version adds features like multicore/multiprocessor support, Movie Import (including warping sound to picture), Instrument and Effect Racks, an Essential Instrument Collection and much more.
In keeping with our mission to provide flexible recording solutions for everyone, M-Audio proudly revealed a line of Pro Tools products for educators and students. Pro Tools M-Powered Academic is compatible with 20 M-Audio peripherals—including PCI, USB and FireWire solutions. We also offer the Pro Tools Ozone Academic Kit and Pro Tools MobilePre Academic Kit.
And to top it all off, M-Audio also introduced six new additions to the ProSessions family: ProSessions 24: Bunker 8 Disruptive Elements, ProSessions 24: Essence of China, ProSessions Premium Instruments: Classical Guitar, ProSessions Producer: Orchestral Percussion, ProSessions Producer: Orchestral Woodwinds, and ProSessions Producer: Synth Bass.
