Its award-winning M-Audio preamp technology delivers pristine digital signals to any Lightpipe-compatible devices such as hard disk recorders and digital mixers. Octane is ideal for miking drum kits or bands—and the two mic/instrument channels are great for guitar, bass and other instruments. M-S matrix encoding lets you employ stereo miking techniques previously available only in pro studios. Octane even has analog preamp (direct) outs for each channel, making it the perfect upgrade for any digital audio interface or mixer. Word clock also means that you can sync multiple Octanes for as many channels as you need as your studio grows.

“The Octane’s preamps are impressively quiet, even when cranked right up, and as such allow you to really make use of the full amount of available gain; particularly useful when capturing very quiet sound sources.”

“Octane is a solid product with a good collection of features and a good value. Anyone with a vacant ADAT digital input would do well to try it out.”

“M-Audio’s product designers seem to have an uncanny knack for recognizing what musicians and project studio owners want, and giving it to us at a price that’s hard to beat. Octane is a perfect example. If your studio is lightpipe-equipped, Octane will be one of those Swiss Army knife-like tools for which you’ll find numerous uses.”

"I recently signed a deal with Triloka Records. There isn't a single track on my new record that wasn't run through my pair of TAMPAs or through my new Octane. I knew M-Audio was onto something when analog guys started telling me how warm and rich my stuff sounded."
